Mommy Taryn and Mama Jen met in 2010 while in physical therapy school. After graduating, they worked as traveling physical therapists across the country, eventually deciding to settle down in Hawaii to be closer to family and to start a family of their own. They sought help from the Fertility Institute in 2017 and IUI treatment was successful. Beautiful baby girl Makena was born in 2018.
They were ready to start the process of trying for baby #2 in the spring of 2020, but COVID hit and their plans were suddenly put on hold. Given the pandemic, it was extremely difficult to coordinate their known donor traveling to Hawaii to start the fertility treatment process. Also, given their current health insurance at the time and where they were to seek treatment, that clinic was not taking new patients. That’s where FIH came to the couple’s rescue!
Finally, in the fall of 2020, FIH helped Taryn and Jen to coordinate using the same known donor, without him having to travel to Hawaii. After a lot of waiting, anticipation, hope, and staying positive, it was time for another IUI in December 2020. IUI was again successful and perfect, little baby Kai was welcomed into the family on September 17, 2021.
“We’re so thankful for all of the help that FIH gave us! Their close follow-up and expertise gave us a lot of comfort during such an uncertain process.”
