Mom Simona and husband Robert married in 2007 and knew they wanted to start a family right away. After a year of trying, with no explanation from doctors as to why they could not conceive, and IVF being financially out of the picture, the couple opened their hearts and home to foster a little boy named Mateo. After a few short years, Mateo was adopted and became an “official” member of the family. Fast forward to a move to the state of Hawaii and the couple soon realized that fertility benefits were covered under many commercial insurance plans. Baby boy Miles was born in 2019, after a successful IVF cycle, and he was the last remaining embryo. However, after this incredible experience with the Fertility Institute of Hawaii and a healthy birth, Simona and Robert decided to try IVF one last time. With their last round of IVF, they were gifted with one baby girl embryo and they then had a successful embryo transfer. Beautiful rainbow baby Iris was born on October 4th, truly living up to her name itself, which means “rainbow.” This family is now complete, with two boys and a little girl who all have different stories, but who will always be siblings. “Our children wouldn’t have been possible without the care and commitment of the staff at the Fertility Institute of Hawaii. A special thank you goes out to Dr. John Frattarelli for his expertise, compassion, and encouragement along our journey.”
